Ortofed Method

The Ortofed method is an innovative way of treating spinal deformities. At the core of this method lies a three-dimensional approach to resolving scoliosis through fixation, elongation, and derotation of the existing curve. The strength of this device is focused on stabilizing, stretching, and derotating the spine, all under the control of a computer program.

1. The device consists of fixators that stabilize the pelvis and spine, as well as the main part – the “pusher,” which, with proper positioning, performs derotation and counterflexion of the existing curve.

2. The intensity of pressure depends on the parameters entered through the computer program.

3. It is an excellent tool in the fight against rigid curves, effectively mobilizing the spine in a corrective direction.

4. This program has been implemented in Poland since 2010 with a high success rate.

A thorough understanding of the behavior of spinal curves and the use of the Schroth and Fits methods are the best approach to resolving this persistent deformity.
