Sprain and Dislocation of the Ankle Joint
Treatment and Approach

Assessment
The physical therapist evaluates the extent of damage, range of motion, strength, and functionality of the ankle joint.
Manual Therapy
Joint mobilization and soft tissue massage help improve mobility and reduce pain.
Therapeutic Exercises
Exercises to improve range of motion, strengthen the muscles of the lower leg and foot, and enhance proprioception (the sense of joint position) are crucial for recovery.
Balance and Stability Exercises
Exercises to improve balance and stability of the joint are important for preventing future injuries.
Electrotherapy
Various modalities such as Tecar therapy, SIS therapy (Super Inductive System), HILT therapy (High-Intensity Laser Therapy), Interferential Currents, and TENS therapy (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation) are used to relieve pain, reduce inflammation, and promote circulation in the affected areas.
Use of Orthoses and Supportive Aids
In some cases, wearing orthoses or elastic wraps is recommended to provide additional support to the joint during recovery.
The physical therapy treatment for ankle sprain and dislocation requires an individualized approach based on the severity of the injury and the overall health of the patient.
